The regulatory context: obligations for the transition to renewable energies
Following the signing of the European Green Pact in 2019, France is adopting the National Low Carbon Strategy, which sets the ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, requiring the mobilization of all players and the massive development of renewable energies.
With this in mind, the 2021 Climate and Resilience Act, and the Act for the Acceleration of Renewable Energy Production (APER) enacted on March 10, 2023, impose strict requirements on commercial buildings, which must now incorporate renewable energy production or greening devices to improve their energy efficiency and contribute to biodiversity. These obligations apply mainly to roofs and shaded areas, with progressive minimum coverage thresholds: 30% in 2023, 40% in 2026, and 50% in 2027.
